Hi I,m new here
My mum has bought me an Elna 1000 sewing machine for Christmas (I pick it up tomorrow). I have tried finding reviews on the machine though haven't had much luck.
From what I have found on other Elna machines it is usually a pretty good/ reliable brand.
I am only a beginner too so as long as the machine works I'm sure I'll be happy but if anyone can give me some feedback it'll be great! :)

This is a good mechanical machine with enough stitches to get you going and looks like fun! Be sure to read the manual and clean out the area where the bobbin goes every few times you sew! When you get the machine, any questions..just put them here and we will sure try all we can to help! :)

Hello. .and welcome to PR. I am sorry I don't have that model. but I do have Elnas that I enjoy sewing on. I see that you are in AU and so your model numbers might differ from the model numbers here in the USA. Just not sure.
Be sure and read the manual a couple of times before you start sewing on it. Not only will you need the basic info right away. but you need an idea of what else is in the manual in case you have a question or concern about your model.

Welcome Kare. There is a review here , on the elna site and from amazon uk. it looks to be a good basic machine. If you get stuck, you can always ask on here or in the Sewing Machine chat section for help, or just to chat about what you are doing. PR is a very friendly and welcoming place no matter what your stitching abilities or preferences (clothes, quilts, toys..)
There is also an Aust/NZ board in Regional Communities link if you want to come chat in your own timezone.

As it turns out, I was just browsing on ebay and came across the Janome JR1012 - It is exactly the same as the Elna 1000 by the looks of it (may have some more features) - It looks exactly the same though aside from saying 'Janome' instead of Elna. Though from what others have said, Janome own Elna anyway?Think my mum picked out a good machine for me at least!

I had an older Elna 1000 for a great many years. I loved that machine. Eventually I found it too small for me, so I passed it on to some friends. It was a great portable machine so it was well used. You'll enjoy sewing on it.

LOVE my new machine!! It's so smooth and so quiet too! I remember my mums old machine sounding like a freight train lol so thought all machines were like this but its so nice
